Feedburner is almost at the verge of getting discontinued as it keeps on pounding its users with some loopholes in its functionalities. Recently, it a bunch of webmasters started a conversation over Google Forum discussing that Feedburner is not showing the Email Subscribers correctly. In fact, the whole list of Email Subscribers is almost wiped out from each and every Feed that is hosted at Feedburner. These kinds of problems are not new for a Feedburner user because, in the past they have not shown a decent record while maintaining their services.
According to the reports, Feedburner stopped showing email subscribers on 22nd February 2013. It is the exact date when Google started to sweep out the email followers from your lists. The ongoing discussion on Google Forum reveals that the problem is not only limited to few webmasters because the majority of people are having the same issue.
One Webmaster Said that:
I went into Feedburner this morning, and all of my email subscribers were no there. Unfortunately, I did not have them backed up. They were there on the 23rd and gone on the 24th. Now I only have 5 email followers. Does anyone know what happened and if we can get them back?
One Webmaster got a bit worried and said that:
Here we go again my all subscribers are down and dusted. Now I have nothing to lose because, I have just lost my 10,000 followers. That is Bullshit. I hope it is just a bug because I do not have any back up. I am screwed.
There is no need to be worried because it is just another bug. This bug has not removed even a single follower from your site, but it is not showing them on your account. If your followers are not listed on your Feedburner account, this does not mean that they are not receiving any updates from your site. It will keep on sending updates to your subscribers on their email address.
How to Backup Disappeared Feedburner Email Subscribers?
If your subscribers are also vanished, then we would recommend you to backup your followers before it gets too late. Follow the following instructions correctly.
Go to Google.feedburner.com and choose any specific feed that you want to backup. Now from the settings select Publicize >> Email Subscription >> Subscription Management, and it will take you to a web page where it will display statistics about your followers.
Now Scroll down to “Subscriber Management” and select “View Subscriber Details” and it will display each and every email address that is subscribed to your site. To download the list of subscribers, Select "Export: CSV", and it will download all details about your email followers.
According to me, it is another bug which would hurt the future of Feedburner. However, there is no need to get worried. Hopefully, everything would be back to normal. I also have subscribers that are not receiving the feed emails. When I follow the path you have described the emails are listed as active so I am still stumped on why they are not receiving the emails.
These kinds of fluctuations are very common with Feedburner. They need to rethink about this system.
